La Plymouth Slingshot è stata disegnata e costruita come un'auto del futuro ed è parte di un progetto comune tra gli studenti dell'Art Center School of Design e il Centro Stile della Chrysler.
Il prototipo usa la componentistica di una motocicletta e doveva promuovere il pensiero "piccolo è buono" in voga alla Chrysler in quegli anni. La carrozzeria è interamente in fibra di carbonio e l'auto è mossa da un motore 4 cilindri di 2200 cc a doppio albero, turbo, sistemato in posizione centrale dietro la cabina di guida.

The Plymouth Slingshot was designed and built as two-seat sports car of the future as part of a project between the Art Center School of Design students and the Design Staff at Chrysler.
It incorporates motorcycle concepts and promotes the "small is good" thinking that Chrysler is looking to build in the future. It uses a rigid carbon fibre tub and is powered by a 2.2 litre twin-cam, turbo, four cylinder engine.
The engine sits across the Slingshot sideways behind the cabin. Access is gained to the interior via a lift-up roof section which tilts forward for entry and exit.
