La Nuvola, presentata nel 1996, rappresenta una sorta di dichiarazione di intenti, per le future scelte strategiche in tema di design. De Silva e il suo staff hanno scavato nella tradizione Alfa Romeo rivisitando le stupende granturismo costruite negli anni Trenta e Quaranta. Nonostante sia un'auto di chiara impronta sportiva e lo si nota nella dimensione preponderante del motore, la Nuvola punta soprattutto su valori di eleganza raffinata e grande equilibrio formale.
