The Vauxhall SRV - Styling Research Vehicle - was a four door, four seater only 41 inches high. All four passangers and the engine were accommodated within the car's wheelbase. The front seat were fixed, but control pedals, steering column, and front-seat rake were adjustable to suit individual driving requirements. The fixed nature of the seats also added to the car's overall body strength.

All control switches were mounted in the driver's door and were grouped in sequence, as in an aircraft cockpit. The SRV's design incorporated some novel approaches for aerodynamic research at high speed, such ideas as "trimming" the car in motion by the use of an aerofoil in the nose, an electric levelling system at the rear, and - following aircraft pratices - a pump system to redistribute fuel load among a series of storage tanks. The body of the SRV was pillarless and molded of glass fiber reinforced with carbon fibber.
