Powered by a 227-horsepower 16-valve 4-cylinder turbocharged/intercooled engine, the Focus was constructed of fiberglass, and had a curb weight of 2.100 pounds. Sitting on 13-inch split alloy wheels behind full plastic wheel covers with Goodyear tires incorporating a custom tread design, the Focus featured a removable hardtop which stowed away under a hatch in the rear deck, smooth lines, and "bubble" taillights. The rear fenders extended upward for better rollover protection.

Designed by Taru Lahti, the Focus also incorporated small projector headlights and indication lights placed behind plastic covers. Based on the 4-wheel-drive Ford Escort Cosworth RS, the Focus seated two people in leather seats, behind a steering wheel with two asymmetrically curved round steel rod spokes at 4 and 8 o'clock supporting a thick laminated wood rim.

Analog instruments sat behind the wheel in a cluster. The cockpit floor was covered with curved, formed wood. The seats and door panels were finished in thick naturai saddle cowhide in brown and tan. The shift lever was formed of two sinuous metal rods. similar to old grape vines, supporting an asymmetrical wooden shift lever fitting the hand perfectly. The instruments, exterior mimors, console, and rear deck trim were hand-formed, brushed and clear coated steel.
